Why a Quilt Show?
As a cooperative school, our philosophy is strongly rooted in the values of cooperation, family and home. It is through these core values that we find ties to quilting and the strong symbol of home which encompasses this medium of craft and expression. Each year at Quail Hollow, we do a quilting project with the children, allowing each child to express themselves with different media, including fabric, paint, buttons, and other various trimmings. The individual panels are then crafted into a quilt, which is hung in the classroom. As such, focusing our fundraiser on the tradition and craft of quilting is very connected to our core values.
